In a framing tale, Leonard Nimoy hosts an episode on extraterrestrial encounters and starts by mentioning one that happened in Springfield.

Homer urges Lenny and Carl to skip work and start drinking beer. Homer uploads an old surveillance video of them working. After over ten beers at Moe’s, a drunken Homer is forced to walk home after failing a breathalyzer test, but he ends up in the woods. A bright, thin-boned extraterrestrial appears in a clearing. Despite the alien’s assurances, Homer panics and flees screaming.

Chief Wiggum dismisses Homer’s efforts to report the extraterrestrial encounter to the police. The FBI’s Fox Mulder and Dana Scully travel to investigate. After failing their psychological tests, Homer fails to offer any evidence he witnessed an extraterrestrial. Most of the neighborhood mocks Homer, even Marge, but Bart confesses he believes him. On a Friday night, they camp in the woods. When Homer walks on their campfire and cries in agony, the alien flees. Bart tapes the whole thing.

Nimoy leaves the stage. A Squeaky-Voiced Teen off-screen reminds him that the program has ten minutes remaining, so he rushes to his vehicle and departs. The Squeaky-Voiced Teen now narrates.

Homer and Bart reveal the alien’s existence to the media. The community eventually believes Homer, even knocking on his home and questioning him. Reverend Lovejoy breaks down in tears when discussing E.T. Lisa, however, insists the extraterrestrial must have a rationale. On Fridays, everyone heads to the woods. When the alien arrives, the villagers rage and rush at him. Lisa and Waylon Smithers intervene, revealing the “alien” to be Mr. Burns. A vocal cord scrape causes Burns to have a faint, high-pitched voice. Smithers says that Burns gets longevity therapy once a week to escape death. Burns explains that his green glow comes from years of working at his nuclear facility. Dr. Nick gives him another boost when he threatens to bring “fear, hunger, and disease” to Springfield. A returning Nimoy, Fox, and Dana join in as he transforms into his “alien” persona and sings “Good Morning Starshine.”

The Squeaky-Voiced Teen reminds viewers to “Watch the skis! Not clouds.”
